Project Coffee - concept coffee place, chic and trendy

BrewLab - the epitome of hipster. Quality coffee served in an artfully designed 'unfinished' setting. Brogues and fake glasses are optional.

The Forest Cafe - volunteer-run hippy cafe, often with live music. Cheap, organic/fairtrade coffee and lunch-y-bites.

For a leisurely lunch or dinner...

Cento Tre - once linked to 'Valvonna and Crolla', it's an italian restaurant/cafe with a fresh, modern feel.
Victor Hugo - deli with cute nibbles and foreign delicacies.

Hendersons - vegetarian cafe with good-quality health-foods.
Cafe grande - feels like an episode of 'Poirot'.
Henri's - another french-style place, but more of a deli with a cafe attached.

The Mainstreet Trading Company - not technically in Edinburgh, but worth noting. Adorable bookshop with great cakes and sandwiches to have as you persuse.
Valvonna & Crolla - amazing Italian deli. Enough said.
Olly Bongos - Turkish-style, with good humous and pitta, as well as authentic Turkish coffee.

Falko's ( I & II) - German 'Konditormeister' - pastry chef. Exquisite tarts and cakes to be enjoyed with a selection of interesting teas - served in a wonderfully old-fashioned bakery setting.
